...every time I hear or read about abortions. What I really struggle to understand is how easily it is for a mother-to-be to consent to remove a small helpless child from a her womb to crush or cut his/her head to kill it.

I'm heaving as I'm writing this. I don't understand. It saddens my heart and I'm sure Gods' heart e.v.e.r.y. s.i.n.g.l.e t.i.m.e some irresponsible woman decides to kill/murder their own child.
People are unbelievably and devastatingly irresponsible!
Now listen to me! If you are going to have unprotected sex with someone you will only get one of two things. STD's or a baby. Get it in your heads!!!! Or are you stupid????? And for your sake I hope it's a nasty, wild and a persistent STD.

I know where you are coming from, but sometimes an abortion is needed to save a woman's life. I'm just saying. It's not always because the woman is irresponsible or stupid. Women are raped, too, an unfortunate fact in this world. In that case, it again is not the woman’s fault if she becomes pregnant. (And that’s not necessarily saying she would choose to have an abortion even in that situation, just to say that the reasons women become pregnant or terminate pregnancy are varied and often complicated.)

Oh, I agree with you (and I probably should have mentioned it in the post....I was just so upset!).
However, this rant and rave was aimed at those who unfortunately refuse to take responsibility. Those who know very well the consequences of their actions, but choose (!!!) to go ahead regardless.
What really bothers me is that the kind of abortions they mention is where the baby already has a head. That means the mother had enough time to consider an abortion, but left it until it resembles a human being. By this I'm not saying if the fetus is 4 weeks old that it's less of an abortion than when the fetus is 20 weeks old, but I just wonder why leave it so late. I feels cruel!
A fetus responds to a mother's voice from very early in the pregnancy. If I'm not mistaken it's as early as 4 weeks?? (please note I'm aware I might be wrong here.) To me that is enough evidence that he/she is no less human and that the fetus already has a spirit filling it's tiny little body. I would say it's definitely more than just a growing blob as some might feel.
Dana, it's terribly awful and disgusting that women get raped, and I don't know what I would do in a situation like that. However, I will never judge a woman who has to make that choice or a woman that has to choose between her or her baby's life as there is possibility that both can die.
